United Nations Global Compact

United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the world largest corporate sustainability initiative, launched in 2000. It is a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitments to implement universal sustainability principles and take steps to support the UN’s goals. The multi-year strategy of the UNGC aims to drive business awareness and action in alignment with the Ten Principles of the UNGC to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2023.

Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact

The UNGC incorporates the Ten Principles into strategies, policies, procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity. The participant corporations not only uphold their basic responsibilities to people and planet but also set the stage for long-term success.

The Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact are derived from: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

UPG Participation in the UN Global Compact

United Paints Group Co., Ltd. (UPG) joined the UN Global Compact on May 7, 2012, with the following objectives.

  • To support in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030
  • To implement the policy commitment to sustainable development
  • To get best practice guidance from the UNGC
