UPG Paint & Coating Co., Ltd. (UPG P&C) is the flagship subsidiary of United Paints Group Co., Ltd. (UPG). UPG was established by a group of paint merchant wholesalers in 1995, and had been a market leader since its establishment. In 2018, UPG was transformed into a holding structure, assuming the role of an investment company. As a result, its paint manufacturing business was fully transferred to the newly established, wholly-owned subsidiary, UPG P&C. UPG P&C is led by a board of 6 members, all of whom also serve as executive directors, and as board members of the parent company, UPG.
As a leading subsidiary of the UPG Group of Companies, UPG P&C manufactures a diverse range of paints and coatings, ranging from environmentally friendly emulsions to heavy duty protective coatings. The company also operates the largest network of paint dealerships in Myanmar.
UPG P&C actively participates in the UN Global Compact (UNGC) and integrates the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its business strategies and operations. The company operates under an Integrated Management System (IMS) incorporating ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS), ISO-45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), and the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS). UPG P&C also received the ‘ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award 2018’ from the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO) for its two environmentally friendly and energy saving products, and the ‘ASEAN OSHNET Excellence Award 2018’ from the ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN-OSHNET) for its outstanding OHS performance.

As the company grows, United Paints Group Co., Ltd. (UPG) has expanded its scope of business by establishing the following fully owned subsidiaries. This expansion aims to enhance efficiency and synergy, benefit customers and stakeholders, and to create opportunities for successor directors.
United Paints Group Co., Ltd. (UPG) was established by a group of paint merchant wholesalers in 1995. The company’s initial objectives were to satisfy the growing demand of the construction boom in the 1990s, to become a key contributor to the country’s import substitution economy, and to develop a full-scale paint industry in Myanmar.
In 1996, UPG established its first paint factory in Hlaing Tharyar Industrial Zone (1) and started manufacturing an economical emulsion branded as ‘Unitex’ which has consistently been a best-selling budget paint in Myanmar to this day. Since its establishment, the company has experienced rapid growth in terms of product range, production capacity, market share, and its standing as a market leader. The primary driving force behind this success has been a diverse set of entrepreneurial efforts working in harmony.
In 2002, UPG obtained certification for ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System (QMS). In 2008, the company achieved the certification for ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO 45001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS). UPG also practices Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) of the global paint industry. Subsequently, the company combined all these management systems into an Integrated Management System (IMS).
In 2012, UPG became a participant of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). In 2021, UPG upgraded its ISO certifications to ISO 9001:2015 QMS, ISO 14001:2015 EMS, and ISO 45001:2018 OHSMS.
In 2018, UPG transitioned into a holding structure, assuming the role of an investment company. Consequently, its paint manufacturing business was fully transferred to the newly established subsidiary, UPG Paint & Coating Co., Ltd. (P&C). UPG is led by the board of 15 members, including the Chairman and Vice Chairman, and serves as the holding company for the UPG Group of Companies. The company is now actively implementing good corporate governance.
Unison Plastic Factory Co., Ltd. (UPF) was established in 1998, and incorporated into the UPG Group of Companies in 2018. As a fully owned subsidiary of UPG, UPF manufactures plastic products for both consumer and industrial segments, primarily supplying plastic pails to the paint manufacturer, UPG Paint & Coating Co., Ltd. (UPG P&C).

Business World Co., Ltd. (BW) was established in 2006 and incorporated into the UPG Group of Companies in 2018. As a fully owned subsidiary of UPG, BW serves the Myanmar paint and construction industries by supplying painting tools, equipment, accessories, and construction machines.
Business World Co., Ltd. is now led by a board of 2 members appointed by the board of the parent company, UPG.
UPG Mining & Processing Co., Ltd. (UPG M&P) was established in 2006 and became part of the UPG Group of Companies in 2018. As a fully owned subsidiary of UPG, this company explores minerals related to paint production and produces wall putties.
